Stormwater Pond Cleanups

Have you ever wondered what happens to all the stuff that is washed off from the roads and parking lots when it rains? Well this is your opportunity to see where litter may end up!

  • Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 10am to 12pm, Railroad Branch pond cleanup, Germantown, MD
  • Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 10am to 12pm, Wheaton stormwater pond cleanup, Silver Spring, MD

Family volunteering together.

At both locations volunteers will help with:

  • picking up trash and sorting it by type of trash;
  • weighing the types of trash; and
  • recording weights by type of trash on a data sheet.

Both will be held Rain or Shine. Be ready to get a little dirty and have fun!

Show Your Creative Side! Participate in a Storm Drain Art Project.

Anything that ends up on sidewalks, roads, or any surface outside may eventually make its way via storm drains to our local rivers. Painting storm drains with art not only looks great but can convey the message of keeping things out of our rivers and streams.
