For the last 29 years the Montgomery County Volunteer center has been coordinating a county-wide Community Service Week in October. This year’s Community Service Week is from Friday, October 16 through Sunday October 25, 2015.
In honor of Community Service Week, DEP is sponsoring several volunteer opportunities to help protect our environment. Last year, volunteers helped collect more than 500 pounds of trash!
Volunteer/hand-on activities available through our Stream Stewards program. Jump to the Volunteer Details section to learn about registration.
Friday, October 16, 2015 from 10am to 12pm (school is off that day)
Darnestown Road and Shady Grove Road. Due to limited amount of parking we will provide the exact address when volunteers register.
The County has trees that were staked when planted. As trees grow the wires can harm them. With your help, we can save the trees from being damaged by the wires around the tree. We’ll work in teams to cut and remove the wire.
Ever wondered what happens to all the stuff that is washed off from the roads and parking lots when it rains? Well this is your opportunity to see where litter may end up!
