The 2nd annual Montgomery County GreenFest is fast approaching (only 2 months away!), and the schedule is being rolled out online. The biggest scheduling news of GreenFest is the announcement of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy as the featured speaker!
Administrator McCarthy will speak to the GreenFest crowd from the Takoma Park Community Center Auditorium during the welcome session at 11:00am. She will be joined by the County Executive Isiah Leggett, the County Department of Environmental Protection Director Lisa Feldt, the City of Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart, County Council President Nancy Floreen and Councilmembers Tom Hucker, George Leventhal and Hans Riemer.
McCarthy has led the nation’s top environmental agency since 2013. Throughout her career, McCarthy has been dedicated to common-sense strategies that protect public health and the environment and has helped coordinate policies on economic growth, energy and transportation.
GreenFest, the County’s largest one-day environmental celebration, is a free, family-friendly event dedicated to helping county residents explore their path to a greener and economically vibrant life by connecting them with local and national leaders, green businesses and neighbors.
To attend the welcome session and hear from McCarthy, make sure to come out to the Takoma Park Community Center on April 30th at 11:00am.
