The Department of Environmental Protection won 4 NACo Awards
The Department of Environmental Protection was honored to have four of its programs awarded National Association of Counties recognition as part of the 2017 awards. While the award winners were announced in May, Montgomery County held its celebration of all the County winners in on December 13, 2017 at the Silver Spring Civic Building.
DEP was one of 11 County agencies honored with awards. We won three awards in the County Resiliency: Infrastructure, Energy and Sustainability category:
- Stakeholder Designed Energy Benchmarking
- Watershed Restoration and Outreach Grants
- Montgomery County GreenFest
In partnership with the Department of Finance, DEP also won for Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy in the Financial Management category.
GreenFest is also a Brilliant Idea at Work!
On top of the NACo Achievement Award, Montgomery County GreenFest also received an exclusive 100 Brilliant Ideas at Work Award. Of all the nationwide 2017 awardees, only 100 were selected for special recognition as “visionary county leadership that results in improving residents’ quality of life”.
