What do beer and lightbulbs have in common? They both come in a variety of colors! Come find out what color light bulb you should have in every room of your house and then order a beer in that hue!

During the months of January, FeBREWary, and March, Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection Energy Programs is partnering with local breweries. These events will show residents how to reduce their energy bills, switch to LED bulbs, and keep money in their pocket all while enjoying a cold brew.

Residents are encouraged to bring their old incandescent and CFL bulbs to the event to swap them for LED bulbs. You can bring as many bulbs as you like to the event but there is a 3-4 bulb maximum per person for new LEDs.

During January, FeBREWary, and March, DEP will be visiting all of the breweries in Montgomery County, please join us at one of these locations:

Do you need voulnteers to staff these events?

    1. Lindsey Shaw says:

Hi Chris–thank you so much for your question and interest in DEP’s Brews and Bulbs events! We do not need volunteers for these events but hope you are able to stop by.

If you’re interested in volunteering at DEP, you can see our volunteer and internship opportunities on our website here: http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/dep/volunteer.html.

Hello, Thank you for hosting these events. Can you please let us know how you dispose of the incandescent and CFL bulbs that are turned in? Thank you.

Thank you for contacting us about these fun events! We bring all of the bulbs to our Shady Grove Transfer Facility to recycle and dispose of the bulbs. Here is more information about the CFLs in general: https://mygreenmontgomery.org/2018/cfls/

Hopefully you have some more bulbs to turn in at another event!

      Kindly,
      DEP Energy

Thank you but it would be much more helpful if the address or at least the town were listed on this page. Depending on where you live to select a location nearest your home or work. Current format requires me to look up every location.

Thank you for the suggestion, we will add it to the listing. If you click on the blue hyperlink, it will bring you to the exact location so you don’t have to look them all up. Hope that helps as well!

      Thank you!
