The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection and the Montgomery County Committee of USGBC National Capital Region invite proposals for educational presentations at the 2020 Montgomery County Energy Summit.
The theme for this year’s Summit is “A Path to Zero.” We will explore strategies, technologies, and case studies focused on the commercial, multifamily, and residential built environment that are moving the needle towards achieving the County’s ambitious climate goal of carbon neutrality by 2035.
Download the call for proposals information and learn how to apply here. Proposals for education sessions are due Friday, December 13, 2019 at 5:00 pm EST.
Sessions are 60 minutes and are typically formatted as 45-minute education presentations and 15 minutes of Q&A. Presentations tend to include a panel of 2 or more speakers from different organizations to provide multiple perspectives on a topic but may feature a single presenter depending on the content. AV will be available including a laptop, digital screen, and slide advancer. Sessions will be submitted for GBCI and, if applicable, AIA continuing education credit.
Strong preference is shown for proposals that include well-rounded, multi-speaker panels showcasing perspectives of stakeholders like building owners, property/facility managers and tenants in addition to service providers, specific case studies or examples located in the DMV area, and financial analysis and project data that makes the business case for action.
Potential topics for presentations include, but are not limited to, the following:
Net Zero Construction | Resilience & Climate Adaption | Emerging Technologies
Measurable & Successful Energy Management | Tenant Engagement | Innovative Financing Solutions
Design & Construction Best Practices | Case Studies

For the past six years and counting, the Montgomery County Energy Summit has annually offered cutting-edge education focused on the latest trends in commercial energy efficiency, renewable energy, and related issues in Montgomery County. Our core audience includes building owners, property managers, energy contractors, and other green building professionals working in the County and the larger DMV area.
For 2020, we are thrilled to announce that we are adding a second-day exploring energy in the residential sector, including relevant topics for developers, building operators, and residents.
The Summit will include a keynote presentation, breakout education sessions, an Expo Area featuring the latest in sustainable products and services, breakfast and lunch on both days, and a reception on Wednesday. The 2019 Energy Summit brought out over 325 attendees.
Registration for the 2020 Montgomery County Energy Summit will open in January 2020. Learn more about the event on MCEnergySummit.org.
