For the average household, almost half of their annual energy cost goes to heating and cooling—more than $900 a year.* Being smart about how you control your temperature settings can help you save money and stay comfortable in your home. And thanks to Pepco, and its support of the EmPOWER Maryland Energy Efficiency Act, now there are many ways to save when you choose and use ENERGY STAR® certified smart thermostats.
It’s simple to get a $100 rebate on select models. To get your rebate instantly, all you have to do is go to pepcorebates.com. Then just follow the prompts to get a coupon you can use either online or in select stores. You can purchase your smart thermostat online from participating stores like Lowe’s and Best Buy, or you can buy online directly from Google Nest and ecobee. Getting your rebate through the mail is also easy. Simply visit any Maryland retailer, purchase a qualifying smart thermostat, and complete and submit a rebate form. For details on eligible models, rebate forms, and more, go to pepco.com/smarttherm or call 1-866-353-5798.
Once you have a smart thermostat installed, Pepco has two programs you can participate in to help maximize your savings.
The Thermostat Optimization Program is your first option. It uses information from your smart thermostat and local weather data to learn how your house reacts to various weather conditions. Then it automatically fine tunes your thermostat schedule to help you save more than you would by using a standard thermostat schedule. As part of the program, you will also get Virtual Energy Assessments to learn how your home uses energy while heating and cooling. At the end of each heating and cooling season, you’ll receive an email with customized recommendations for saving energy and money. This program is only available for certain smart thermostats from ecobee, Honeywell, Emerson, and Nest. Visit pepco.com/thermsavings for a list of eligible models.
Setting | Time | Setpoint Temperature (Heating Season) | Setpoint Temperature (Cooling Season) |

Another way you can save is to sign up for Energy Wise RewardsTM. This program lets you participate in Pepco’s energy conservation efforts on select summer days when energy demand is high. There are typically five Peak Savings Days each year, and during these events the air conditioner fan will continue to circulate cooled air throughout your home to keep everyone comfortable. You will receive annual bill credits up to $40 for enrolling. This innovative program helps to prevent energy shortages and power interruptions and protects the environment by reducing emissions from power plants.

Good news, customers can get a $100 rebate on ENERGY STAR smart thermostats through our Appliance Rebate Program. Here’s the website with more information: https://homeenergysavings.pepco.com/appliance-rebate-program/overview/smart-thermostats. There is a limit of two rebates for smart thermostats per Pepco customer account.
Thank you for your question!
