Another Energy Action Month is upon us and we have been coming up with a ton of different ways to learn how to lower your utility costs and keep money in your pocket. Since September 1991, President George H.W. Bush declared October as National Energy Awareness Month, government and organizations have been working to raise awareness of the importance of sustainably managing the nation’s energy resources. This month long celebration has now become an opportunity for us to encourage residents to take proactive steps to lower their energy usage and their utility bills.

Even during these unprecedented times, we have been working hard to make sure that we have interactive, engaging ways to help inform residents about this very important month – check out what we have planned.

October 4 – 10, 2020 – Energy and Recycling

Active Aging Week Pop Up Events

Energy is not just about electricity, it is also about us all getting up and getting active. That is why we are part of the Active Aging Week celebration. We want to make sure that we are all using our energy in a productive way.

Every work day this week (Monday – Friday), we will be visiting different Senior Centers to provide you with an opportunity to recycle your old incandescent and CFL bulbs. We know it has been a while and you have probably had a bunch burnout on you so we want to make sure that you have somewhere to recycle them safely.

What is the point of sending an announcement about Active Aging Week at noon on Friday of the week that it ends? I got a notice at noon today because I participate with the Next Door Neighbor app. Having heard of the bulb exchange program many months ago, I had been waiting for its return. I would have liked to take advantage of the bulb exchange, if I would have known about it. Are you going to do it again?

    1. Larissa Johnson says:
