We all want to save the planet from crumbling beneath us, and there are so many ways that we can do it without even trying too hard. Here are a few tips on how you can play your part in keeping the environment clean:
1. Use reusable bags for groceries
You can find bags made from recycled material in most supermarkets. They are reusable, washable, so they not only help to keep plastic from building up in landfills, but they also make carrying your groceries so much easier.
2. Mobile vs printing
Anything done via a digital platform these days is the best way forward to not only make sure that everyone gets your invitations and greeting cards but that you don’t waste paper by printing them.
3. Personalized cafe cups
Coffee has become the fuel of the youth, and social media is all the buzz about the latest places to go and enjoy your cup of java. The best thing to come from that craze is personalized cups. You can purchase these cups at the most trendy coffee shops that you could carry around in your bag and whip out whenever you need to get your caffeine fix. Less paper, more coffee!
4. Save water
Global warming increases daily, and the more it rises, the more we need to focus on saving the water we drink every day. Recycling our grey water is one way to make sure that we waste less. Our plant life still benefits from greywater even if our bodies can’t, and the more we do to save our plant life, the better chance we have of breathing in the fresh air. One way to reuse water is let cooking water from pasta or vegetables cool off, and the next day you can water houseplants, or outdoor flowers and trees with it, instead of pouring it down the drain.
5. Fewer car fumes
Modern times try to convince everyone that owning a car is the best way forward when it adds to the air’s dirt. If you are serious about making a difference, then think about joining a carpool, using public transport or using a bicycle for distances that aren’t too far away. The bonus is that you will get some extra exercise while the earth gets some excess fresh air.
6. Electricity
Our power grids are working overtime to keep us connected to our beloved digital world. Try and spend some actual time with friends and family and keep off the internet and televisions, for starters. Use the hot water tap only when you need it, and invest in flasks to keep hot water hot without constantly boiling the kettle.
7. Beach clean-ups
If you’re going to the beach, bring a litter bag close by for things you need to throw away. If you want to be even more helpful, then volunteer to assist with beach clean-ups or pick up bits of trash while you walk. A lot of what lands up in the ocean is what stays behind on the shore, and if we would like to have wildlife remaining safely in the sea, we need to keep tidying up the beach.
8. Plant a tree
Much of the rainforest is being ruined by the chopping down of trees, and the replanting process is not as fast as the cutting down process is. If as many humans as possible plant just one tree a year, we would all have a better chance of not just breathing fresher air but having an environment where both humans, animals, and plants can all flourish together.
