Join the Love Where You Live Challenge

Instagram Challenge: If you only need help with one leaky window or door, send us a picture of that leaky window or door. Simply follow our account and tag @mcenergyconnection when you share your photos on Instagram, and we will send you a fix that you can install for that door or window! You can also submit your photos to energy@montgomerycountymd.gov.

Utility Bill Challenge: In the Home Comfort Kit request form, we will ask if we could send you an email to request your utility bill data for a four month time frame. You don’t have to agree, but if you do, we’d be grateful! Your data will help us track the results of these winterization kits to potentially help more folks…AND we will enter your name into a drawing for a $100 utility gift card!

 

What’s in the Love Where You Live Home Comfort Kit?

Let’s keep OUT the cold and lower your heating bill with a few simple fixes that you can install in your home. The Love Where You Live Home Comfort Kit contains:

  • 2 Door Sweeps – 1.5”x36”, trimmable self-stick door sweep to seal gaps between the bottom of the door and the threshold
  • 30 Rope Caulk – pliable caulk roping to peel apart and simply press into place to seal leaky doors and windows
  • 2 Window-Insulation Kits – easy-to-use plastic-shrink film and double-sided tape to insulate average size windows – Please only install in the cold, Winter months!!! 
  • 8 Outlet Safety Plugs – child-proof plastic safety plugs to seal the outlets on exterior-facing walls

 

OFFICIAL RULES 

Introduction

This webpage describes the official rules (“Official Rules”) of the Love Where You Live campaign organized by the Department of Environmental Protections (“DEP”) and Montgomery Energy Connection (“MEC”), (the “campaign”). The objective of this campaign is to encourage sustainable behavior change to reduce the winter energy consumption of Montgomery County residents through easy-to-install weatherization fixes in their homes provided at no-additional cost in a Home Comfort Kit.

Definitions

  • “Home Comfort Kit” means a kit containing door sweeps (2), rope caulking (30’), window-insulation kits (2), and safety plugs (8), informative flyer, while supplies last.
  • “Participant” means the individual who submits a request for a “Home Comfort Kit” under the terms of this Campaign.
  • “Form” means the electronic form to submit a request and share full name, home address, and email to receive a “Home Comfort Kit”.

Eligibility

  1. The Campaign is open to Montgomery County residents only. The Campaign is not open to companies, educational institutions, organizations, etc. or to groups associated with such institutions.
  2. Participants must be of sufficient legal age and standing to enter into a contract with DEP and MEC as required below.

How to Participate

  1. To be eligible, Participants must complete the provided request form via weblink to share full name, home mailing address, and email.
  2. Participants can opt-in on the form to provide consent for MEC to contact them via email to request electric and/or gas utility bill amounts.
  3. All requests to receive a “Home Comfort Kit” must be received through the link above.
  4. All utility bill responses will be entered into a drawing to select one $100 gift card winner.,
  5. Each participant and/or household can only receive one “Home Energy Kit” per campaign in 2021.
  6. Each participant and/or household can only win once per campaign in 2021

All “Home Comfort Kits” will be mailed to participants.

  1. To be eligible through Instagram, Participants must take a picture of one window or door or outlet of their home in Montgomery County, tag and follow our Instagram account @mcenergyconnection to receive to receive an associated winterization item to repair that object.
  2. Participants can alternately submit one photo of a window or door or outlet in their home in Montgomery County via email to energy@montgomerycountymd.gov to receive an associated home comfort item to repair that object.
  3. The drawing winner will be congratulated and announced on MEC’s Instagram account upon approval from drawing winner
  4. There is no fee to participate in the Campaign.

Prizes

Subject to the legal requirements outlined above, drawing winner will receive via mail:

  1. $100 utility company gift card
  2. A congratulations announcement on the MEC Instagram account

Acceptance

Participation constitutes the Participant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules. By participating in the Game, the Participant is representing and warranting that he/she/they has read and understood, and agrees to be bound by, these rules. Including the guides and rules referred to herein, these Official Rules constitute the entire agreement between the Participant, DEP and MEC in relation to the Campaign. They govern the Participant’s participation and supersede any prior or other agreements between the Participant, DEP and MEC and relating to the Campaign.
