Since August of 2017 Vivian, Adrienna, Brienna, and Isaac have been Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) volunteers. As a family they have volunteered in numerous community cleanups, storm drain art painting days and many community events including helping at the DEP information booth at the Annual Montgomery Agricultural Fair.
Because of their dedication and interest in protecting the environment, during the 2021 summer, they helped with making sure that the storm drains that have been painted since 2013 were in top shape. The storm drain art helps with educating people about litter issues – anything and everything left on the ground can eventually drain to storm drains and then most likely directly to local rivers and streams!
From April 2021 through August 2021, Vivian, Adrienna, Brienna, and Isaac donated some 330 hours of their time to make sure 17 painted storm drains were in top shape!
Our story
“We are a multi-cultural family as my husband and I were both in different countries. My husband is from Taiwan and I am from Malaysia but we have been living in Montgomery County for more than 20 years. Our eldest son is a junior and our twin girl is a freshman in high school. They were born and raised in Montgomery County. They have been involved in community services and helping to protect the environment and the community since they were in 5th grade. They’re helped educate and share information about recycling, composting and other ways to help protect the environment with the community.
The more we do to protect our environment, the better we can help protect the health of our family and the quality of our life improves.”
Thanks for continuing to promote this wonderful beautification program !
