Electrify Your Lawn – Week of October 24 – 30, 2022

Electrify your lawn by switching to an electric leaf blower!

As we close out Energy Action Month, the focus is on electrifying your lawn. Beyond the loud noises they generate, did you know that using a gas-powered leaf blower for an hour emits as much carbon monoxide as a car engine idling more than eight hours? Making the switch to electric leaf blowers is easy: they’re clean, emit less noise, and require less maintenance than gas-powered models.

Check out the handouts below or download them in English and Spanish.

Switch to electric lawn mowers, too!

Electric lawn mowers are great–the family and neighbors can sleep in while you mow the lawn without low frequency sounds penetrating through walls, and they’re lighter to maneuver, and require no gas or tune-ups besides blade sharpening! Learn more at https://wp.me/p9ITpH-7XO

How can homeowners/renters take action?

Visit your local hardware store and see which electric leaf blowers or electric mowers are in stock that fit your price range!

Is there a rebate/coupon to turn in gas leaf blower to get an electric one

    1. Mary Travaglini says:

Siew, yes, right now you can get $50 off either a hand held or backpack style EGO brand leaf blower at one of 3 locations–Stosniders ACE in Bethesda, Kensington, or Potomac. While coupons last. Just ask for the coupon when you go in. There is no requirement to return one, but we accept them at no cost at the Shady Grove transfer station–when you go, there is an area to the right of the scrap metal to drop them off. Please drain them of fuel before dropping off.
