M-NCPPC has partnered with the Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) for the collection and recycling of empty high-density polyethylene (HDPE #2) plastic containers that once held pesticide, fertilizer, or some paint products (this includes many of the buckets of paint purchased for ballfield lining). Park staff, the public, private industry, and other agencies/organizations are welcome to bring approved HDPE #2 plastic containers for recycling.
This is a great opportunity to reduce waste!
**Please note: HDPE #2 containers are generally accepted in commingled recycling dumpsters as long as they have not contained pesticide, fertilizer, or other hazardous substances.
At a minimum, to be accepted, containers must be:
• Triple-Rinsed
• Free of caps and labels, metal handles removed
• HDPE #2 plastic with this symbol on the container bottom:
