County Executive Marc Elrich will launch the Montgomery County Electric Vehicle Purchasing Cooperative (EVPC) in a virtual event at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20.
As part of the launch, County Executive Elrich will challenge residents and businesses to “Lead the EV Charge” and sign a pledge to buy a new or pre-owned electric vehicle—an “EV.”
The initiative is designed to accelerate the adoption of EVs to help the County reach its Climate Action Plan goal of an 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2027 and a 100 percent reduction by 2035.
“If we are to achieve our zero-emissions goals, we will need to completely transition our transportation system away from fossil fuels, and we need to start right away,” County Executive Elrich said. “Community members and businesses who take the pledge to make their next vehicle electric will help demonstrate consumer demand for EVs in Montgomery County. We are working to get more people into EVs by making the purchasing process easier. EVs have lower emissions and operating costs and the program will make EVs more accessible. It’s going to take all of us doing our part to realize a cleaner future for our community.”

The meeting ID is 864 8965 0933. The passcode is 484498.
