DESCRIPTION:Let’s do some good during Spring Break & Earth Month! Join for a community cleanup of Cabin John Creek in Rockville to make an impact. \nPlease join us for a fun couple of hours making a positive impact at a community Stream Cleanup event! We’ll be gathering at Dogwood Park\, 800 Monroe St\, Rockville Maryland to clean up the area around Cabin John Creek. Let’s work together to keep our community clean and beautiful! \nWe will meet in the parking area of Dogwood Park\, close to the basketball courts. \nTo stay safe and hydrated\, we suggest bringing a water bottle and wearing sunscreen\, sturdy/waterproof shoes\, long pants\, a long-sleeved shirt\, and a hat. Waders or waterproof boots are a plus for that hard-to-reach trash that may be in or across the stream. \nGloves and trash bags will be provided. \nRegistration is requested\, as space is limited. \nEach participant will be required to complete the following forms (copies will be available at the beginning of the event): \n1) Rockville waiver form \n2) Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin waiver form \nThis event is part of Alice Ferguson Foundation’s Annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup and produced in partnership with the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin and the City of Rockville.

No newspapers​.​\n– Household Donations – Project B Green will accept household donations include clothing\, shoes\, hand bags\, housewares\, toys\, bed & bath\, media\, holiday decorations\, kitchenware\, small electronics (working)\, sporting goods\, books\, small furniture (no larger than 4ft by 4 ft).\n– Lightbulb Exchange – The Department of Environmental Protection will be there to swap out your old incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs for energy efficiency LED bulbs. Feel free to bring as many lightbulbs as you have and receive up to 3 LEDs per person.\n– Electronic Recycling – Montgomery County will accept activity fitness trackers\, alarm clocks\, audio equipment\, cable/satellite boxes\, cables\, calculators\, circuit boards\, computers and related items (CRT and flatscreen monitors\, keyboards\, flash drives\, modems)\, copiers\, digital cameras\, drones\, small handheld electric tools\, radios\, remote controls\, stereos\, cell phones\, empty toner cartridges\, video game consoles and controllers. For a complete list of accepted items go to the county’s electronics recycling page.\n– Terracycling – Green Olney will be collecting hard to recycle things that cannot be placed in the household blue bins picked up by the county. These things include: Crayons\, pens\, pencils (wood and mechanical)\, markers\, toothpaste tubes with caps\, toothbrushes\, floss containers and the packaging it comes in\, disposable razors\, blades\, and the packaging it comes in\, socks\, Brita brand filters\, pitchers\, and the packaging it comes in\, beauty and skincare bottles\, tubes\, caps\, mascara tubes and wands\, jars\, compacts\, contact lens cases\, single use eye-drop vials\, contact solution bottles and caps.

SUMMARY:RainScape Your Yard: Sessions 1 – Evaluating Stormwater Solutions for Home Landscapes
DESCRIPTION:A RainScape is a landscape or design technique that helps reduce stormwater runoff from individual properties\, including rain gardens\, conservation landscapes\, green roofs\, and permeable pavements. The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection offers a rebate program for approved RainScape projects for homeowners. To be eligible for a rebate\, participants must apply and be approved for installation based on a submitted plan before projects are installed. \nIn this online (Zoom) class\, learn how environmentally friendly landscapes\, such as conservation sites and rain gardens\, can help manage stormwater issues on residential properties. We will review steps to planning a RainScape including site evaluation and determining the type and scale of project that best suits your needs. The class is open to anyone\, regardless of applying for a RainScape rebate.
