SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:Climate anxiety and climate grief. This sums up what many of us are feeling in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. Category 4 hurricanes with catastrophic storm surges are becoming the norm along with more frequent tornadoes\, 100 year flooding events\, sustained heat waves and more. \nThis massive hurricane brought up a lot of feelings: horror at the size and scale of this storm\, worry about loved ones in its path\, and our human vulnerability when these storms strike. In the aftermath\, there is a sense of relief for loved ones spared coupled with grief for those whose lives were decimated or lost. So how do we cope with these acute and chronic stressors caused by our changing climate? \nThe Maryland Campaign for Environmental Human Rights and the Maryland League of Conservation Voters [MDLCV] are co-hosting a conversation about Climate & Your Mental Health on Tuesday\, October 25 at 7pm. Join Rebecca Rehr\, Director of Climate & Justice Policy with MDLCV and Dr. Jon Gorman\, Psychologist with the Towson Therapy Group for an engaging conversation about feelings caused by climate change and climate events\, the impact of climate change on our mental health\, and ways we can cope. \nJoin us! RSVP here.

SUMMARY:Make the Swap: Why it’s Time for Heat Pumps\, Not ACs
DESCRIPTION:Amidst rising gas prices and groundbreaking US climate legislation\, heat pumps are in the national spotlight. Now is the time to accelerate the deployment of this super-efficient technology across the country. But on a practical level\, what is the most feasible and cost-effective path for consumers to adopt and operate heat pumps in their homes? \nJoin CLASP and RAP for a dynamic conversation about the opportunities to increase the deployment of heat pumps by using them to replace end-of-life air conditioners. This unique solution\, in which the legacy heating system remains in place as a backup for high heating loads\, offers consumers leading cost and energy savings while taking vital steps toward full home heating decarbonization. \nTo learn more about how this solution is already contributing to state and federal decarbonization goals\, participants will hear from leaders across the policy\, research\, industry\, and installer communities: \n\nWeston Berg\, American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy\nMatt Malinowski\, CLASP\nNicholas Harbeck\, Johnson Controls\nNate Adams\, HVAC 2.0\n\nRAP’s Camille Kadoch will moderate the session\, which will include ample Q&A time for participants to ask questions directly to our panelists. For background information and analysis\, see the latest report from CLASP and RAP or the two-page summary.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister for your spot today: https://clasp.zoom.us/webinar/register/9016655856280/WN_ARnwO5J9ScGl67wCvQY0hA
