DESCRIPTION:The City’s Environmental Affairs Committee is planning its biannual Fix‑It Fair on Saturday\, May 30\, 2026\, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Casey Community Center. Community members are invited to bring broken personal items—such as toasters\, bicycles\, lamps\, textiles\, and more—to be repaired for free. \nFinalized fix areas for this event will be published around April 24. \n**Seeking Volunteer Fixers**\nAre you good at fixing things? We are seeking volunteer “fixers” with experience in: \nSmall appliances\nLamps\nJewelry\nTextiles/Clothing\nTool Sharpening\nKnife Sharpening\nBike Repairs\nComputer Diagnostics\nIf you have repair skills not listed above\, we encourage you to share them! We are always looking to expand our repair categories. \nFixers will receive basic appointment information up to two weeks before the event and must bring their own tools. The City will provide: \nBasic repair materials and disposables\nWork tables and repair space\nOpportunity to advertise your repair business\nCoffee\, beverages\, and a hot boxed lunch\nHold harmless waiver\nIf you are interested in volunteering as a fixer\, please contact environment@gaithersburgmd.gov. \n** Seeking Volunteer Event Organizers **\nAre you passionate about sustainability and community building? Join us as a Volunteer Event Organizer and help bring the Fix‑It Fair to life!
