Washington Gas High-Efficiency Natural Gas Furnace Rebates

$300 rebate for an AHRI Certified Natural Gas Furnace installed by a licensed contractor. Rebates are available through the Washington Gas Maryland Energy Savings Program.

Washington Gas High-Efficiency Water Heater Rebates

Up to $180 in rebates for installing a ENERGY STAR Certified storage water heater or a AHRI Certified Tankless water heater by a licensed contractor. Rebates are available for Maryland residential Washington Gas customers through the Maryland Energy Savings Program.

Washington Gas Thermostat Rebate Program

$30 rebate on installed programmable thermostats and $100 rebate on Wi-Fi enabled thermostats through the Maryland Energy Savings Program.

Titling – Excise Tax Credit for Plug-In Electric Vehicles

You may be eligible for a one time excise tax credit, up to $3000, when you purchase a qualifying plug-in electric vehicle. The vehicle can either be owned or leased. Businesses can also apply for tax credit for up to 10 vehicles.  The tax credit is available now through June 30, 2017.

HOV Permits for Electric Vehicles

Drivers of plug in electric vehicles that are registered in Maryland can use the HOV lanes in Maryland regardless of the number of passengers, providing they obtain and display an HOV permit on the vehicle. There is no fee for the permit.

Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Rebate Program

Help expand the State’s growing electric vehicle recharging infrastructure through the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Rebate Program. Residential properties can receive up to $900.  The rebate is offered for MVE approved installations completed between July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2017.

Guaranteed Ride Home

Guaranteed Ride Home provides commuters who regularly (twice a week) carpool, vanpool, bike, walk or take transit with a free and reliable ride home when one of life’s unexpected emergencies arise. Commuters may take advantage of GRH up to four times per year. It can also be used for unscheduled overtime when your employer mandates that you must stay late. Best of all, it’s free!

Pepco Home Performance with ENERGY STAR

Would you like to save on your energy costs and increase the comfort of your home? You can do both -and receive rebates- by participating in the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.  A participating contractor will come to your home and provide an energy assessment and install energy saving equipment.

Pepco Quick Home Energy Check-up

A Quick Home Energy Check-up is a fast, easy way to reduce energy use in your home and save money. This program is provided at no additional cost to your existing Pepco Service. A trained Energy Analyst will assess your home’s energy use, recommend energy-saving improvements and help you start saving right away by installing energy-saving products.

Montgomery County Weatherization Program

Caulking, weatherstripping and other home insulation services for income-qualified residents. Program applies to both renters and homeowners.

Maryland Residential Clean Energy Grant Program

Financial assistance for residents who install solar photovoltaic, solar water heating, geothermal heat pump and wind turbine systems. Up to $3,000 in grants per project.

Solar Co-ops

MD SUN is working with groups of neighbors around the state to organize neighborhood solar coops, who will achieve huge savings on solar installations through buying in bulk as a group. Co-op members can rely on the support of each other and MD Sun as they collectively navigate the competitive bidding process which results in their selection of an installer.

Pepco HVAC Efficiency Program

Receive rebates for a HVAC tune-up or money towards a new HVAC system. Up to $1,800 in rebates available based on the project.

Pepco Appliance Rebates

By purchasing ENERGY STAR certified appliances, you may be eligible to receive rebates of up to $500 on items such as qualified refrigerators, room air conditioners and water heaters.

Pepco Programmable Thermostat Program

Enroll in a peak energy cycling program and receive a free programmable thermostat.

Pepco Peak Energy Savings Credit

Earn a credit on your bill by reducing electricity on specially designated PeakSavings Days. You can receive a credit of $1.25 off your bill for every kilowatt hour you reduce below baseline.

Pepco Plug-In Vehicle Charging Pilot

Pepco offers special rates, packages and incentives for installing charging stations, purchasing “green” energy and shifting demand for electric vehicle charging from peak hours to off-peak. The program is open to all qualified Pepco residential customers in Maryland with a plug-in vehicle that can travel a minimum of 30 miles using electricity as fuel. To participate, your vehicle must be registered in Maryland.

Federal Income Tax Credits for Renewable Energy Systems

Federal Income Tax Credits of 30% or costs with no upper limit for installing geothermal heat pumps, solar water heaters, solar photovoltaic panels or small wind turbine systems. Applies to existing homes and new construction, principal residences and second homes. 2015 credit expires December 31, 2016.

Shades of Green Program

Program provides free trees for planting to qualifying property owners in highly developed areas like downtown Silver Spring and Bethesda. The owners must live in designated areas and have sufficient soil and sunlight.

Be SMART Home Loan Program

This loan program offers innovative financing to improve home energy efficiency through the replacement and upgrading of appliances, heating, cooling and ventilation systems and whole house envelope improvements. Up to $25,000 in financing is available for eligible homeowners.

Tree-Mendous Maryland

Reasonably priced trees for organizations, schools, communities to plant in public right-of-ways or other public spaces; also, give a gift of a tree planted in a public space and receive a framable certificate to give the recipient.

BGE Home Energy Check-Up

When you schedule a Quick Home Energy Check-up, an energy efficiency professional will do a walk-through of your house, discuss their findings with you and, with your permission, install energy saving devices. The service comes at no-additional cost to you!

EmPOWER Maryland Low Income Energy Efficiency Program

Helps low income households with installation of energy conservation materials in their homes at no charge. These improvements will both reduce a household’s energy use an​d lower the monthly utility bills.

BGE Peak Rewards Air Conditioning

When you participate in the program, you will help offset air conditioner demand during periods of “peak” electricity usage, thus helping to reduce the likelihood of power outages. By joining, you will receive between $100 to $200 in bill credits from June – September. You’ll also receive a free programmable thermostat.

BGE Appliance Rebates

Upgrade to high-efficiency ENERGY STAR® certified appliances and you could get $30 to $500 in rebates on select models.

BGE Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Audit

Offers a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving your home’s energy efficiency, comfort and safety while helping to reduce your energy use by 10 to 20%. The extensive audit is provided at a discounted rate of $100. Plus rebates of $200 to $4,300 from the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program are available, based on approved measures.

BGE Smart Energy Savers Program: Heating & Cooling

Get $200 to $1,800 in rebates from BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program on high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, such as HVAC, geothermal and ductless systems, while improving your home’s energy efficiency and comfort.

BGE Peak Rewards – Electric Water Heater Program

Have a switch installed on your water heater, free of charge, to allow BGE to cycle your hot water. This helps to keep the cost of electricity down. By joining the program you will receive $25 to $50 in bill credits.

BGE Peak Rewards – Multifamily Program

The PeakRewards Multifamily program will install technologically advanced thermostats in all of your units and automatically enroll your residents into the program at no out-of-pocket cost to you. In exchange, your residents receive great benefits including a technologically advanced programmable thermostat and summer BGE bill credits.

BGE Smart Energy Rewards

Receive credits depending on the amount of electricity you reduce on Energy Savings Day. You can earn a credit of $1.25 for every kilowatt-hour saved compared to your typical usage. BGE will notify you when there is an Energy Savings Day. It is a voluntary program.

BGE Plug-In Vehicle Charging Rate Options

BGE offers special electricity rates for BGE residential customers with a plug in vehicle since while your gas budget may go down, your electricity usage will go up.

Leaves for Neighborhoods

Partner with Montgomery Parks by planting shade trees in your yard. Download the coupon for $40 towards the purchase of a tree worth $75 or more from participating nurseries.

Coupons for Leaves for Neighborhoods and Marylanders Plant Trees can be used towards the same tree if the nursery participates in both programs.

Rockville Rainscapes Rewards

City of Rockville residents, HOAs and nonprofits can receive rebates to help fund the cost of the installation of rain barrels, trees, conservation landscaping and pavement removal.

Property Tax Credit – Renewable Energy Devices

Montgomery County homeowners are eligible for up to $250 in tax credits for energy efficiency improvements.  The credit can be taken once per year for purchases made during that year.  The amount available annually is $100,000 and applications are processed in the order they are received.

Potomac Edison Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program

Potomac Edison offers customers a subsidized home energy audit ($100) and rebates on home energy efficiency improvements.

Potomac Edison ENERGY STAR Appliance Rebates

Rebates for ENERGY STAR refrigerators, clothes washers, freezers, room air conditioners, and dehumidifiers. Rebates up to $150.

Potomac Edison Water Heater Rebates

Receive a $500 rebate when you purchase an ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heater. A heat pump water heater can save you an average of $300 a year compared to a standard water heater.


Potomac Edison Quick Home Energy Check-up

Potomac Edison customers can get their home reviewed quickly for energy saving opportunities. The contractor may install free CFLs, faucet aerators and other energy saving devices on the spot. Value of up to $75 in energy-saving products.

Potomac Edison Residential HVAC Program

Potomac Edison customers can earn rebates of us to $1,800 for the installation of a new high-efficiency central air conditioner, the purchase of an air-to-air heat pump, the purchase of ductless mini-split heat pumps and the installation of an ENERGY STAR geothermal heat pump.

Employer-Provided Commuting Benefits

One of the best ways employers can persuade employees to take public transit or carpool is to provide pre-tax payroll deductions. This federal program allows for $125/month ($1,500 a year) in tax free or pre-tax transit benefits.  Employers can also receive a tax credit from the state of Maryland for expenditures related to employee commuting benefits, such as SmartTrip contributions or spending to support carpools or vanpools.


Marylanders Plant Trees

Partner with the State by planting shade trees in your yard. Download the coupon to receive $25 off the purchase of a tree worth $50 or more from participating nurseries.

The coupon for Marylanders Plant Trees and the coupon for Leaves for Neighborhoods can be used towards the same tree if the nursery participates in both programs.

Clean Burning Wood Stove Grant Program

This program provides grants for clean burning wood stoves to displace electric, non natural gas, fossil fuel heating systems, or old wood stoves.

Maryland Home Energy Loan Program

Get a loan for $1,500 to $20,000 at a 9.99% interest rate for home energy efficiency improvements.

Free Trees with Backyard Buffers

If a stream or other waterway is located on or near your property, the Maryland Forest Service will give you a combination of 25 free tree and shrub seedlings to establish or enlarge a forest buffer on your land.

Bioheat Tax Credit Program

This program provides a $0.03/gallon tax credit up to $500 for individuals and corporations that purchase Bio-Heating Oil for purpose of space and water heating.

The tax credit will last through tax year 2017.


The non-profit organizes local residents and institutions into collective purchasing groups and serve as a guide through the entire process of securing clean energy, from requesting supplier bids to negotiating to get the most affordable rates.

Weatherization Services from Habitat for Humanity

Provides low-cost home repairs and weatherization services to address health and safety issues, energy efficiency improvements and/or code violations to qualified Montgomery County and Prince George’s County homeowners.
