This position is located within the Green Building Division of the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA). The function of this position is to conduct energy code inspections to ensure compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and procedures. The incumbent works under the supervision of the Supervisory Green Building Inspector who assigns responsibilities in terms of stated objectives, and relies upon the incumbent to exercise considerable independent judgment in planning, organizing and executing assignments.
The incumbent will determine the methods and procedures that will work most effectively and expeditiously to accomplish the inspection workload of the Green Building Division. The incumbent keeps his/her supervisor informed of the status of the work assignments and of critical changes or major issues as they arise. The incumbent otherwise conducts energy code inspections, assists in quality oversight of Third Party Green/Energy Inspection Agencies, provides technical assistance knowledge to DCRA staff and the public, and performs other duties as assigned.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and is strongly preferred if the applicant possesses one or more of the following: (1) ICC certifications in the International Green Construction Code or International Energy Conservation Code, (2) Certified Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater (3) Building Performance Institute Building Analyst or Multifamily Building Analyst, (4) LEED for Homes Green Rater, (5) Certified Energy Manager, (6) or other related certification.
