Senior Manager Socioeconomic Impact
At Mars we believe everyone working within our extended supply chains should earn sufficient income to maintain a decent standard of living. Small farms play a critical role in local and global food systems – and they are under intense economic pressure. Of the 35M small farms estimated to participate in global supply chains, as many as 24M may be run by families living in poverty, some in extreme poverty. To secure access to the raw materials like cocoa, mint, and rice we depend on requires us to do our part to advance sourcing strategies that help farmers escape poverty and reach a decent standard of living.
Mars has prioritized action on smallholder poverty within our Sustainable in a Generation Plan and this role leads the strategic approach and partnerships that are focused on improving incomes in priority supply chains.
While the primary focus of this job is addressing poverty in priority supply chains, the role also provides counsel to the business on income and wage issues across the value chain (living wage, minimum wage, etc.).
