The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia (Commission), a leading utility regulatory agency, is looking for a dynamic Sustainability Officer, for its Office of Policy and Development (OPAD), which oversees the Commission’s policy and strategic planning process by identifying emerging trends in the energy and environmental fields, as well as sustainability issues affecting regulated industries; and by developing resources and processes to enable successful implementation of Commission initiatives.
The ideal candidate will work closely with the Commissioners, Executive Director, other District agency officials and relevant industry stakeholders, such as other state utility commissions, to develop strategic partnerships in order to develop, coordinate and execute strategic plans and projects. You will organize and lead task forces and working groups, which may involve outside experts or stakeholders to address program and policy issues. The ability to think strategically, develop thoughtful messaging, and foster a collaborative and inclusive work style with people at all levels is essential.
The Sustainability Officer will serve as sustainability advisor for the Chief of OPAD and the Commission and attend and/or speak for the supervisor and the Commission at conferences related to sustainability initiatives. Conducts special projects, secures factual data from various sources, and compiles into finished reports on an “as needed” basis for presentation. Conducts in-depth research; fact-finding investigations; statistical analysis of policy and legislation issues; and prepares comprehensive reports, studies, and other special assignments. Collaborates with appropriate agencies, committees, and individuals to implement sustainability projects.
