DESCRIPTION:The Montgomery County GreenFest is the largest annual environmental festival in Montgomery County\, MD. GreenFest is organized by a coalition of public\, non-profit\, and university partners. GreenFest is expanding this year by taking place at two different locations over one weekend. \nGreenFest in the City will take place in downtown Wheaton (2425 Reedie Drive) on Sunday\, April 23\, 12pm – 5pm. Our target audience includes building owners\, property managers\, developers\, energy contractors\, and other sustainability professionals working in Montgomery County and the larger DMV area. This event typically attracts 300+ attendees\, speakers\, and exhibitors. \nThis year’s Summit will focus on preparing the commercial building community for compliance with energy benchmarking\, building energy performance standards\, and emerging building codes. We will explore requirements and opportunities in these areas and provide hands-on learning opportunities as well as case studies from commercial and multifamily buildings. The Summit will provide education sessions\, hands-on Q&A and support\, an “innovation alley” showcasing products and services\, and a networking reception. \nDay 1 of the 2023 Energy Summit is designed for building owners\, managers\, and facilities staff. Over the course of the morning\, attendees will cycle through 5 different stations to learn about energy benchmarking and performance requirements for commercial buildings and resources available to assist in improving building performance\, including receiving utility incentives\, financing building upgrades\, securing building permits\, and installing electric vehicle charging stations. In the afternoon\, attendees will have the opportunity to speak one on one\, ask questions\, and receive hands-on support from subject matter experts. Energy audit demos will also take place throughout the day to get attendees thinking about opportunities in their buildings. \nDay 2 of the 2023 Energy Summit is geared to building and energy professionals and consultants\, though building owners\, managers\, and facilities staff are welcome to attend for a more in-depth discussion about County energy regulations and strategies to meet them. Day 2 will provide learning sessions on strategies and case studies from commercial and multifamily buildings with an eye towards improving energy efficiency in buildings. DESCRIPTION:Montgomery County’s CCOC (Commission on Common Ownership Communities) along with DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) and Montgomery County GreenBank to hold a seminar on Electric Vehicle Charging stations so you can charge at home. \nMontgomery County residents and businesses own an estimated 10\,900 electric vehicles and 5\,600 plug-in hybrids. Nearly 40 percent of all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in Maryland are located within Montgomery County. The Maryland Department of the Environment’s Zero Emission Vehicles Program has set a goal of having 60\,000 zero-emission vehicles in the State by 2020 and 300\,000 by 2025. \nElectric vehicles are coming to Montgomery County\, and it’s no surprise why: EVs save money\, reduce emissions\, and are fun to drive. \nCharging at home is one of the biggest benefits of driving electric\, making it an important asset for condos\, co-ops\, and townhomes with shared parking.
