SUMMARY:POSTPONED - LEED Building Tour: Metro Heights at Mondawmin
DESCRIPTION:NOTICE: We are postponing our tour of Metro Heights at Mondawmin out of an abundance of caution for the health of the building’s residents. We plan to reschedule later in the year.\nJoin the USGBC Maryland Community for a tour of the LEED Gold Metro Heights at Mondawmin apartments. \nThis innovative project is located on a highly visible infill site in Baltimore’s Mondawmin neighborhood\, an area cast in a negative light by the 2015 Baltimore uprising. Developed and owned by Enterprise Community partners\, the striking new building helps set a positive tone for the future growth of the community. The complex includes market-rate and affordable units\, along with specially designated units for disabled and formerly homeless individuals. The building is located near many jobs\, community services\, and public transportation. Energy efficient HVAC equipment\, lighting\, and low-flow plumbing are used throughout the buildings\, allowing both the property owner and residents to see savings in their utility bills. The design team was conscious of cost throughout the project\, utilizing fiber cement siding on the rear of the building\, vinyl windows\, and creative stormwater strategies to reduce costs while still meeting sustainability goals. The project was awarded 2019 USGBC Maryland Leadership Awards for Community Champion and People’s Choice at this year’s Wintergreen celebration. \nThis tour is pending approval for 1 GBCI CE and 1 AIA LU. \nLight refreshments will be provided for registered attendees.
