DESCRIPTION:Throughout the year\, we will be partnering with community organizations to provide residents with LED lightbulbs. DEP staff host light bulb swaps at libraries and at Summer community events. During the light bulb swaps\, participants are asked to bring in their old incandescent or CFL lightbulb. In exchange\, we provide up to 3 free LEDs at no cost. We also bring an informational table and giveaways for participants. Pepco has graciously supplied the LED bulbs. Come out and meet our Energy Ambassador!

SUMMARY:Clean Energy Week: Lightbulb Exchange
DESCRIPTION:National Clean Energy Week is a celebration of the policies\, industries\, and innovations that power our daily lives while producing no or very little greenhouse gas emissions. Despite the very real technological and political challenges\, a clean energy future is in our reach\, and America is ready to lead the way. \nAs part of Clean Energy Week 2021\, the Lighten Up lemonade stand will be at various locations throughout the County. All of these locations support clean energy in some way. \nTuesday\, September 21\, 2021 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Jane E. Lawton Community Recreation Center\, 4301 Willow Lane\, Chevy Chase \nThe Jane Lawton Recreation Center is a place where neighbors gather for social activities\, sports\, and fun. This is the first recreation center in the County to go solar. The rooftop solar panels generate clean energy\, save the County money\, and provide a great example to the community. This system has 134 solar panels installed and provides 42\,919 kilowatt hours annually. That is the equivalent of powering 3 homes\,  keeping 7 cars off the road\, and planting 828 trees.
