DESCRIPTION:Mischief is afoot at your local library! The library’s electricity is missing\, and we need your help to find out what happened. It’s time to gather our magnifying glasses and brush off our searching skills as we set off on an adventure to solve the case of the missing electricity! \nWith the summer reading theme “All Together Now”\, detectives from ages 5-12 can work together to help discover the fate of the library’s electricity all while learning about different energy sources\, environmental justice\, and how to conserve energy at home. Participants can expect to solve puzzles\, play games\, and make crafts as they overcome harrowing plot twists and red herrings to figure out this classic who dunnit.

SUMMARY:💡Light Bulb Exchange
DESCRIPTION:Throughout the year\, we will be partnering with community organizations to provide residents with LED lightbulbs. DEP staff host light bulb swaps at libraries and at Summer community events. During the light bulb swaps\, participants are asked to bring in their old incandescent or CFL lightbulb. In exchange\, we provide up to 3 free LEDs at no cost. We also bring an informational table and giveaways for participants. Pepco has graciously supplied the LED bulbs. Come out and meet our Energy Ambassadors!

SUMMARY:Energy Express at Long Branch Library
DESCRIPTION:Energy Express is a summer event for kids and families to learn about energy usage. As a partnership between the Department of Environmental Protection and Montgomery County Public Libraries\, these presentations will take place across the County’s libraries as part of the Summer Reading Program. And for the first time since 2019\, Energy Express presentations are happening IN PERSON! Set sail on a treasure hunt towards energy savings with this year’s Summer Reading theme\, “Oceans of Possibilities.” On board\, our young crewmates will explore different energy sources and make smart decisions to power our ship (and our homes). Our adventure will be led by high school students from the P.O.W.E.R (Peer Outreach With Energy Resources) program who have worked all year to prepare this interactive energy story.
